Privacy policy

You do not need to give us any personal information to browse or search the site. Search runs in your browser: the words you type are added to the page address so you can bookmark or share a search. Our analytics records page addresses, so those search words are included in it.

Like every website, our hosting provider keeps basic request logs. For each page or file requested they record:

• your IP address
• your browser and device type (the user agent)
• the address requested and the page that linked to it
• the date and time of the request

We use these logs only to keep the site secure, stop abuse and fix errors. They are not used to build profiles, are not sold, and are kept only for a limited period.

We use Google Tag Manager to run Google Analytics, which shows us how the site is used: which pages are viewed, which deals, links and buttons are clicked, what is searched for, how visitors arrive and roughly which city they are in. To do this it sets first-party cookies and sends Google your IP address, your browser and device type, the addresses of the pages you view and the actions you take on them. When you send the contact form it records that a message was sent and its topic, never your name, email address or message. We use these reports only to see which pages and deals are useful. We do not set advertising cookies, and we do not sell this data.

You can turn this off by blocking cookies in your browser or by installing Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. The site works the same without it.

If you use the contact form or write to contact@dinersdeals.com, we use your name, email address and message to reply and to act on your request, such as correcting a listing. The form sends your message to that mailbox, which is hosted by Zoho Mail; we do not keep a separate copy on our website. We keep correspondence only as long as we need it to handle the request and to keep a record of changes to listings. We do not sell or share it.

Deals link to restaurants' official websites, and branch listings link to map directions. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which apply once you leave DinersDeals.

Under Canadian privacy law you can ask what personal information we hold about you (usually only a message you sent us) and ask us to correct or delete it. Email us and we will respond within 30 days.
